Text Difference Checker
Spot changes between two versions of a message, list, or document.
Your inputs stay in this browser. No account or processing API needed.
Your comparison
Compare your texts to see changes.
Each entry shows its status and line number in each version. Changed lines appear as a removal and an addition. [empty line] marks an empty line.
How to compare text
- Paste the earlier version into Original text.
- Paste the revised version into Updated text.
- Choose Compare texts and review the labeled changes.
- Copy the report or download it as a plain-text file.
Example: review a shopping list
Original: Shopping list, Apples, Milk (one item per line). Updated: Shopping list, Oranges, Milk, Bread. The report shows one removed line, two added lines, and two unchanged lines.
What counts as a difference?
This compares complete lines, not individual words. Capitalization, punctuation, spaces, tabs, and blank lines matter. Windows and Unix line endings are treated alike. A trailing newline creates an empty final line. Repeated lines may have more than one equally valid alignment.
Can I compare an empty version?
Yes. Leave one box empty to see every line in the other version as added or removed. Both boxes empty produces a helpful message. Very long documents over the stated limits must be compared in smaller sections to keep the page responsive.
Is my text private?
Comparison runs locally in this browser with no processing API. NeatlyKit does not upload or save your text. Editing either input clears the old report so you cannot copy a stale comparison. Plain-text downloads contain the text you entered; store them appropriately.
